Bhawani & Chokandi Graveyard - Karachi

Bhawani & Chokandi Graveyards
Ornate tombs in an Islamic cemetery - Art of Indus valley civilization

Bhawani at Hub & Chaukhandi at Landhi are two very similar graveyards in Karachi believed to be built by Baloch tribal warriors and Jokio`s. These graves were beloved to be built by the craftsman's of Jaisalmer State in Rajasthan (Present day India) who always had great relations with Rulers of Sindh.

A beautiful graveyard with marvellous architecture. The meticulously designed graves with intricate carving on yellow stones and calligraphy of questions verses on a few other graves make the graveyard a true beauty for visitors. The texture of the carvings will keep you hooked for hours and the history that the graves hold make you wish you had been part of that era.

Most of the tombs have geometrical designs and the others have floral motifs, birds and beautiful pictorial representations of jewelry and arms which confuses the researcher to decipher whether the grave belonged to a warrior or a craftsman.
