Sukkur

Sukkur is probably named by Arabs, due it`s extreme climate as Saqar which means "Intense" or by Sindhi`s as Sakharu which means "Superior". The archaeological relics, artefacts, and ruins found in the region such as Lakhan-jo-Daro (2600 BCE – 1900 BCE) and Aror suggests that Sukkur is historical site with a glorious past since ages.

The Lansdowne Bridge is a 19th-century bridge that spans the Indus River between the cities of Sukkur and Rohri, in the Sindh province of Pakistan. When completed in 1889 it was the longest rigid girder bridge in the world.
Railroad drivers disagreed to drive a train on this bridge as they were frightened of death. Their worst fear was that the train would cause the bridge to collapse, and all of them would drown.“Jamalay” was the name of a death row prisoner who signed the agreement on behalf of the British administration. He will not be sentenced to death if he drove a train across the bridge. There was a ceremony to inaugurate the bridge. On that day, ” jamalay” took the train over the bridge very carefully. ‘Jamalay’s’ relatives became delighted and celebrated the success. “Jamalay’s” wife also started dancing during the celebration.

Sadhu Belo also known as Sadh Bello is an island in the Indus River near Sukkur, which is famous for its highly revered Hindu temples.
