Makli Necropolis is located in Makli Tahsil, of District Thatta. Thatta Tahsil, remain capital of Sindh till 17th century. It is one of a kind place enlisted by UNESCO as one can visualize 400 years of architectural history of Sindh in just 4 km starting from Samma Monuments at Makli Hill to Arghun, Tarkhan and last but not the least is Mogul period i.e. from 14th to 17th century.

This credit of establishing Makli Plato as Holy place goes to Shaikh Hamad Jamali who built Madarsa and Khanka here in 14th century.

It is believed that Samma King Jam Tamachi an avid lover of Noori (Sindhi folklore) won battle against his own brother Jam Juna because to Shaikh Hamad Jamali`s blessings. His tomb is situated just beside his Khanha at Makli.

Shaikh Hammad Jamali gave a piece of cloth to Jam Tamachi the Prince od Sindh and asked him to unfurl it as his flag and march boldly and when he did it it is said that an army of angels assembled under the flag. When his own brother Jam Juna heard about the divine powers in battle field he left the battle field, giving succession to Jam Tamachi. In respect, Jam Tamachi presented a large purse to Shaikh Hammad Jamali which he has not accepted. The Shaikh asked Jam Tamachi to build a mosque on Makli Hill which still exists but in ruined state.

Thou this place houses more than 50,000 graves of nobles but the tomb of Jam Nizamuddin II is one of its kind . This tomb is made up of more than 1000 different tiles but the thing which makes it more colourful is its non symmetry.
