Ranikot Fort - Historical Fort

Who says Rani-jo-Kot is in middle of no-where?

Rani Kot fort is situated approximately 75 miles North West of Hyderabad and 18 miles west of Railway Station Sann on the Kotri Larkana line. A fort holding gigantic fortification walls runs down the contours on bare hills.

The Great Wall of China, by contrast, varies hugely in terms of size, quality and material from place to place. While the the format of the Ranikot is somewhat similar to Gorgan wall (Iran) as it hardly changes at all for almost its entire length, presenting an insurmountable barrier to the horsemen of neighboring states.

Ibrahim Naib Barbak is brother of Sultan Firoz Shah [1] who left Amir Nasr at Nasrpur with 1000 horse to built Ranikot in 751 AH or 1350 AD [2] capable of containing 100,000 cavalry.[3]

Architecture of Ranikot itself tells the story of why it is constructed at such a place. One can easily mark 5 (five) Round towers on Ranikot Fort, which serve the purpose of a watch tower, to guard certain roads, passes, or lands that might threaten the kingdom, they acted as a border guard rather than a real strong point to watch and maintain the border or states or sultanats or parganah.

In the year 1300 AD according to the author of Mazhar-i-Shahjahani wrote Sindh was divided into eleven parganah [4].
